In 2026, the world marks the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP). Here in Australia, rangelands are synonymous with the iconic outback, and comprise about three-quarters of our landmass. As well as supporting millions of livestock such as cattle, sheep and goats, they are home to an abundance of native flora and fauna.
