Anzac Day falls on the 25 April each year, the day Australian and New Zealand troops landed on the Callipoli peninsula in 1915. Since 1916, it has been dedicated to commemorative activities honouring the courage and sacrifice of the first ANZACs during World War I and all succeeding Defence Force personnel who have served in times of war and other operations.

A sturdy quadraped found in forested, mountainous and heathland areas of eastern Australia and the island of Tasmania, the wombat has powerful limbs and sharp flat claws ideally suited for digging. At up to one meter in length, it is one of the largest burrowing animals in the world.
Like other marsupials, the female wombat has a special pouch in which its offspring completes its development. In this burrowing species, the pouch opens backwards to avoid smothering the young animal with soil as its parent tunnels underground.

Quokkas are wallaby-like marsupials found mainly in the south west region of Western Australia, particularly Rottnest Island, an idyllic location 18 kilometres off the coast near Perth. About the same size of domestic cats, the quokka has thick, grey-brown fur, a broad face, shiny black eyes and round furry ears.
